Tools of the Writing Trade

What I love about writing is that it's not complicated.

You got some notebook paper and a pencil? And you feel like it? Boom. You're a writer.

But let's be real. There are some things that make the 'business' of writing run more smoothly.

So here's the list:
  • PC or Mac with wordprocessing software
  • printer
  • copy paper
And there is also:
  • paper or notebook or blank book or journal
  • pencil or pen
  • nice spot to sit

You could also use:
  • an 'office-type' space
  • a good chair (more on that in a couple posts)
  • some inspirational stuff
And lastly:
  • Time
The kicker is using that time wisely. I have loved giving myself permission to daydream about my work in progress. That totally counts. So does choosing a playlist that inspires you. And surfing Pinterest for pertinent images. And networking and hanging with other authors. Just don't let those things suck all of your available writing time.

So those are the tools that I think are necessary to the trade of writing.
